Tracing Traces Of Chinese Architecture, Gedong Village



Gedong
village is the oldest ‘pecinaan’ settlement in the Pacific that has
existed since the 18th century. Reportedly, residents of the village
inhabitants are descended from the Chinese mainland (Chinese Hakka)
brought to Bangka by the Dutch colonial to work as miners.


 


Gedong village, the old village is simple and precisely located in the
Kuto Panji Village, Belinyu District , Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands.
The village occupies an area of ​​2.5 ha was crowned as the  tourist
villagein 2000, inhabited by approximately 50 households or 300 people.

Vivid impression of the old village on the buildings that house the
Chinese architectural style evident the moment you step into the Gedong
 village. Previously, a simple monument made ​​of iron frames will greet
travelers. Antique houses are still inhabited and sturdy stands are
mostly made ​​of wood, roof tiles.
